Tamale: Tamale Teaching Hospital doctors strike; CEO returns

Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital strike

Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital have withdrawn their services following attack on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital, Dr David Zaawumya Kolbila on Monday, August 13, 2018.

The doctors have thus made series of demands that should be met before they return to work at the hospital.

Among the demands are that the CEO, Dr David Zaawumya Kolbila be allowed to work without interference. All allegations made against him should be channelled to the right authorities and proper investigation carried out.

Also, they demand that the internal security at the hospital must be strengthened and the security officers given better training and logistics.

Moreover, the doctor demand that steps be taken to constitute the hospital’s board  as soon as possible and the perpetrators of the attack on the COE and their contributors must be arrested and prosecuted immediately.

They [doctors] as a result have withdrawn their services from the hospital.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr David Zaawumya Kolbila is reported to have returned to his office after being chased out on Monday, by a vigilante group, the Kandahar Boys.
