Meghan Markle was the talk of Royal Ascot yesterday afternoon, as she arrived in a white Givenchy shirt dress and Balenciaga heels.
And while she couldn’t take her eyes – or hands – off her new husband, Prince Harry, throughout the day, it appears the new royal also caught the attention of a certain famous jockey.
Presenting a trophy to equestrian Frankie Dettori, who rode to victory on horse Without Parole in the St James’s Palace Stakes, the Duchess of Sussex blushed as the Italian-born athlete kissed her on the hand on stage.
The Daily Mail reports Detorri told the Duchess his son would be ‘very pleased’ to learn she’d presented his cup, and added that Meghan ‘kind of giggled’.
Following the jockey’s gesture Harry was later seen pointing a finger at the father-of-give before the pair laughed off the unexpected kiss. While not common practice, Frankie’s bold move didn’t exactly break protocol as there are ‘no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family’, according to royal.uk.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pictured smiling as they arrived in a horse-drawn carriage alongside the Count and Countess of Wessex for the sporting event at the Berkshire racecourse.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall were also spotted arriving at Royal Ascot with Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, who travelled in another carriage.
Missing from the royal party was Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall, who announced the birth of their second child earlier yesterday. The new arrival, whose name has not yet been announced, was born at Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire weighing 9 lbs 3 oz, the Palace announced.
What a day of celebration!
