Manhyia North: NPP Chairman debunks ‘One Million’ projects at his area

Mavis Hawa Koomson, Minister for Special Development Initiatives

The New Patriotic Party’s Second Vice Chairman for Manhyia North Constituency, Mr Agyei Kwaku Ernest, has debunked claims by a section of the public that some projects have been initiated in the area under the one million dollar per constituency promise.

Mr Agyei says there is no such projects in the constituency. According to him the only toilet facility at Moshie Zongo which is under construction is not funded under such promise.

Speaking with the media, he urged authorities to ensure that contractors approved by the various constituencies are allowed to engineer the projects under the one million dollars per constituency.

Mr Agyei revealed that the constituency executives were allowed  to register some contractors not long ago for such contracts but had heard nothing about the projects.

According to him, any attempt by the sector ministry to award contracts, without the consent of constituencies’ executives of the party will be unfortunate.

“Constituencies’ executives should be allowed to play major role in the awarding of contracts under the one million dollars promise and the approved contractors should be used when the money is disbursed,” he said.

Mr Agyei thus called for transparency in the execution of the tabled projects with the involvement of constituencies’ executives who can identify  particulars projects which are beneficial to their respective areas.
