Award-winning highlife/afro beats artiste Kwasi Brenya-Baah, simply known in showbiz as Brenya, says all is set for him to serve Ghanaians with his much awaited delicacy of a banger dubbed Kelewele come Tuesday, June 26.
Social media has for the past days been awashed with the hashtag Kelewele after the musician dropped a hint he will be releasing his latest single.
In an exclusive interview with The Probe, Brenya said that: “Kelewele, I can say, is already a hit song. Those who have had the privilege to listen to it before its release have given it positive ratings.”
The song which was recorded live, produced by Liquid Beatz, begins by asking its audience to show by hands those who love Kelewele with the musician attesting that the food ‘de bee’ [to wit, it’s nice].
Answering the question on why he chose to touch on food as a subject in his latest single, Brenya indicated that it’s one of the foods he dearly enjoy eating and would make a song of it to put it on the international stage.
“Why Kelewele? Well like most Ghanaians, I love it. I have never met anyone who has not eaten Kelewele before. So, like Yvonne Chaka Chaka singing about African beer [Pito], I also was inspired to celebrate Kelewele,” he said.
Brenya has to his credit hit songs like Life and Barikisu.
