BoG will have to drag me on the floor to close GN bank- Nduom

Dr Nduom says GN Bank has never gone for any money from the Bank of Ghana for its operations

President of Group Nduom [GN], Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom says there is no way he will allow the Bank of Ghana [BoG] to close his bank on grounds of nonperformance.

Dr Nduom says he has invested much in GN Bank that he will do anything in his power to protect such investment, and will not allow any closure. ‘They’ll have to drag me on the floor to close it,’ he said.

According to Dr. Nduom, he and his management team are doing all they can to ensure that depositors’ and customers’ monies are safe.

“When the bank is closed down, customers will not lose their monies, I’ll lose my money. So, I have widely opened my four eyes on the bank,” he said on Peace FM on Monday, October 15.

Dr. Nduom who has been advising customers to desist from panic withdrawals indicated that it [panic withdrawals] will collapse Ghanaian banks if they continue to engage in it.

According to him, GN Bank has never gone for any money from the Bank of Ghana to operate.

“GN bank has never taken a pesewa from Bank of Ghana, it has never taken a pesewa from government to run the bank. It means the bank has never gone for money from  Bank of Ghana which could be said was used recklessly. No!,” he stated.

Dr Nduom further indicated that there is no instance where a depositor’s money has been invested in any of his other businesses unjustifiably.

He, thus, stated that the companies are rather given loans which they pay back with interests.

Dr Nduom said just three months ago, to avoid rumours from Ghanaians, he suggested to all his other companies that their accounts be taken from GN Bank to other banks.

“This is to prevent anyone from saying there’s a temptation to use depositors’ money recklessly. Gradually, they have started taking some of the accounts from GN Bank to other banks,” he indicated.
