The Brong Ahafo Regional First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, says Former President Mahama did not want to improve sports in Ghana, hence shelving Dzamefe Commission’s report.
According to Abronye, Mr. Mahama would have shown commitment to better sports in Ghana if he had dealt with those who were found culpable in the commission’s report.
Speaking on Oman FM’s evening political show Boiling Point, he said: ”Former President Mahama deliberately issued a white paper and cleared Adu Asare and even made him a presidential staffer.”
”Mr. Mahama also cleared Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and promoted him. What shows John Mahama wanted to better sports in Ghana?” he asked.
Abronye further stated that if Mr. Mahama had dealt with Adu Asare, Afriyie Ankrah and others at the time, things would have changed in sports in Ghana.
”These people went and wasted tax payers’ money despite the country’s state at the time. Coconut which is sold at 1.50 pesewas in Ghana, they went and bought same coconut at 300 dollars abroad, which is not so. At most, coconut is sold at 5 dollars abroad, someone should tell me I’m lying,” he stated.
”After all these, Mr. Mahama issued a paper and cleared him. And due to the issuance of the white paper it is difficult for any other President to touch them,” he added.
