The President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo for the first time since he was sworn-in as
Prsident of Ghana has left the country for the United Kingdom for a week-long vacation.
Nana Akufo-Addo left on Wednesday May 9, 2018 and was accompanied by the First Lady,
Rebecca Akufo-Addo, his children and grandchildren.
In a statement signed by the Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin, he
indicated that the President will honour two public engagements while away.
President Akufo-Addo will on Friday May 11, 2018, speak at the University of Oxford, as
part of the 2018 Africa Conference, on the theme "Enough Rhetoric! Catalysing an Era of
Concrete action," the statement indicated. "He will on Saturday, May 12, 2018, deliver the
keynote address at the London Business School's Africa Business Summit," the statement
Nana Akufo-Addo will further take the opportunity of his vacation to attend the Anglican
confirmation ceremony of his grandson, Louis, at his old school, Lancing College, in Sussex
on May 13, 2018.
The President is expected to return to Ghana on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. In accordance
with Article 60(8) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu
Bawumia, shall act in the President's stead.
